ACH Origination makes it easier to manage money across different financial institutions.
For example, you can use it to:
Move money between accounts: Transfer funds from your LCU account to an eligible account at another financial institution.
Manage your finances: Move money where you need it without having to visit multiple financial institutions.
Make payments: Send funds electronically to eligible creditors or other approved recipients.
It’s all about giving you more convenient ways to use your Loudoun Credit Union account.
-
Yes! ACH Origination is now available to the entire Loudoun Credit Union membership.
There’s no need to wait for a future rollout. This new capability is ready for members to begin using through digital banking.
-
Not quite!
Both services allow money to move electronically, but they work differently.
ACH transfers are processed through the Automated Clearing House network, typically taking one or more business days to complete.
Wire transfers generally move money faster, but they use a different payment network and may involve additional fees.
ACH Origination is designed to provide a convenient option for everyday electronic transfers and payments.
-
ACH is a widely used electronic payment network, but it’s important to remember that any financial transaction can involve risk.
The biggest thing to watch out for? Fraudsters who try to convince you to send money to the wrong person or account.
That’s why we encourage every member to take a moment to verify payment information before initiating a transfer.
-
We recommend a simple approach: Verify, then verify again!
First, verify who you’re paying.
Before sending money, make sure you know who will receive it. If you’re making a payment to a business or creditor, confirm the account information by calling a phone number listed on the organization’s official website.
Don’t rely solely on contact information provided in an unexpected email or text message.
Second, get another set of eyes.
If something seems unusual, ask someone you trust. You can always contact Loudoun Credit Union, and our team will be happy to help you think through a suspicious request.
And remember: Don’t let anyone rush you.
Fraudsters frequently create a false sense of urgency to pressure people into making financial decisions.
If someone insists that you need to transfer money immediately, stop and take your time.
Your financial security is always more important than someone else’s deadline.
-
Before submitting an ACH transfer, carefully review the recipient’s account and routing information.
If you believe you’ve made a mistake or notice an unauthorized transaction, contact Loudoun Credit Union as soon as possible.
ACH transactions may not be reversible, so verifying the information before submitting a transfer is especially important.
-
